She looks so beautiful in that dress doesn’t she? That’s the ultimate goal of nearly every bride when they pick their dress. To be the center of the universe for their lucky partner. And while white is the traditional color for wedding dresses, we’ve seen many other designs take center stage. But the big question here is, can you wear white to a wedding?
Traditionally, the bride wears a white dress. Beyond the symbolism of purity, an all white dress really catches the eye when amidst a colorful backdrop. When guests are wearing black suits, dresses, and more festive colors, that white dress really stands out. And why shouldn’t it? It’s the bride’s special day!
As a wedding DJ, I’ve got some stories to tell about wedding do’s and don’ts.
But a guest wearing white to a wedding, we say, that’s a big no-no. The couple is the center of the universe on their special day. It’s their celebration. And even though some couples don’t like the spotlight on them, that’s the point of the reception. To celebrate their love for one another. When a guest wears white (male or female) it takes away attention from the couple.
So when you’re perusing the closet or the store for your wedding attire, make sure you’re keeping the spotlight on the newlyweds!
