Kids at a wedding?

I love kids. I have 2 young sons. They’re well behaved and very respectful But they’re also 9&11 years old and full of unbridled energy. Brandon is a ham and AJ loves to take charge of a situation in having people join him in a friendly game of tag.

Weddings for most people are not only a grand celebration of a couple. For many guests that are parents, it’s their one kid-free night to enjoy time as a couple and as adults. When parents bring their young children to weddings, the kids will absolutely love the expansive space on that dance floor. It’s the perfect place to run as fast as you can and slide on your knees. It’s kind of  cute and a reminder of your time as a kid before ibuprofen became your best friend.

When it’s time for you to dance with your mom or dad, all guests should be seated to give you an opportunity to cherish that special moment. But as we know, kids can be unpredictable. And when it comes time to get the party popping and pack that dancefloor, nothing clears a dance floor quite like a cluster of youngsters flossing and begging the DJ to play baby shark.

It’s perfectly understandable that not every parent has the ability to have a babysitter for the day, and in many cases, it’s family members that are all going to be at your wedding so, they might be the ones that usually watch the littles while you’re tending to things that need your attention. It’s a tough decision whether or not to allow kids at a wedding.

But from the perspective of your guests, wedding staff, and bottom line, keep this in mind. You’ve invested so much time, effort, and money into the perfect celebration. Give yourself the peace of mind and your guests the ability to enjoy themselves by keeping the kids at home.

But if you must have kids at a wedding, experts suggest that you designate a sitter for a group of kids at a kids table. This will allow the kids to sit together and let their parents relax and enjoy the day. It’ll also give the kids the opportunity to socialize with other people their age so that they aren’t bored and getting into sticky situations. Stock up on things like coloring books, perhaps livestream a couple of kids movies on a tv in a separate sitting area in the venue. These little details will be the least expensive part of your wedding but will have a great result keeping the guests, kids, and you very happy with your celebration!
